Might not be the best unit, but a great choice for me.

I bought this drill because I needed to secure 2x4s for some new walls in a basement to the concrete floor. I also needed to add some conduit mounts and junction boxes to accomodate a couple of new circuits for a workshop. I used it with 3/8" x 3" Tapcons for the floor studs and some 1.5" for the conduit mounts. I used the bits that came with the Tapcons.
I bought this Black & Decker with mid-level expectations; I wasn't sure if I would have to go a bit slower or if the drill would feel cheap. Not the case. This drill is beefy, and seems like it will be part of my toolkit for a significant time. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed with which I was able to drill into the concrete (and the block drilling was even faster).
Overall, I'm very satisfied - and have purchased a couple of other B&D products as well. Since I'm not a professional construction worker, I don't need the very best, most expensive tools... but it seems to me this drill will easily carry me through my occasional, medium duty concrete drilling tasks. A nice buy for the price.

Great drill!

I bought this drill because I was building a garden shed and needed to put anchor bolts into an existing concrete foundation. This drill did the trick! It was like drilling into butter, it worked so well.
One note, in reference to the other reviewer, this drill does have a switch on top that allows you to choose between high speed or high torque. Also, the trigger allows for variable speed, though that only works as well as your finger for control. As mentioned in the other review, the keyless chuck makes this tool very easy to use. And the drill is fairly light so you don't feel your arms cramping up after using it for a while.
All in all, I am very happy with this purchase!

Bad chuck bad luck

I purchased this drill to replace a Black&Decker keyed chuck hammer drill that I was very satisfied with and had about 5 years of varied use with it. I read a review here about the keyless chuck breaking on this drill but I chose to ignore it. Bad move on my part! I now have a no-chuck hammer drill. The button that is used underneath the chuck to lock the shaft pushes on something which breaks off after you change the bit about 50 times. This means you can now neither tighten or losen the chuck. This is a VERY flawed design and Amazon should really pull this one from its inventory. This is the first time I have felt a need to write a bad review on anything but this drill should not be purchased! I'll give it one star because is has the power to do most of what you need, but for only a couple of weeks.
