Household drill

The built-in work light comes on everytime you place your hand on the grip, even if you work outside in a sunny day, this can be annoying. Other than that, it has the power, the right weight and characteristics for any household action. Bubble level and screwdriver bit are very cool details. All in a black hard plastic case.

What a great invention!

I have a new household tool whose learning curve is almost zero. The "Skil 5/5 Amp Keyless Drill" is a fabulously easy tool to operate. In fact, when I pulled it from the box which contained no instruction sheet, I was very leery!! I picked up my Skil, turned it here and there, twisted this and that, read the diagram which labeled the parts, and got to work. It was that easy to use!!
Its second excellent feature is its light weight. I looked at the one with a battery pack, but weight comparison pretty much caused its rejection. If I have a bout of fibromyalgia, I want to be able to pick up and hold my power drill, if need be. That heavy one, the cordless one, was a definite put-it-back-on-the-shelf. The corded unit is no problem to handle.
A third reason for this Skil's selection was the chuckless part. When the ex repaired or built things, I was required to watch. Seeing him use that chuck wrench to loosen and tighten parts inserted into the tip, I knew I didn't want one of those. Actually, I didn't know anything else existed. That's why it came as a wonderful surprise to discover a chuckless drill! See the two black parts on the nose in the picture? Just twist each in an opposite direction to loosen and tighten the bit. Voila! Very easy!
So far, I have installed those plastic inserts for screws for scarf holders that go above windows and three two-screws handles for cabinet doors in my bathroom. Now that's a tedious job, but how attractive my cabinets are now! And will be--I have 10 more handles to install at two holes per handle.
I have other Skil tools, which I also love: Skil 2336-02 iXO 3.6-Volt Cordless Screwdriver and my Skil 7232-01 1.8 Amp 1/4 Sheet Palm Sander.

Great for decks and all!

I got my drill as a house warming gift 6 years ago. I use it all the time. I just bought a new house and the deck needed work. My father and I both pulled out our drills to do my deck. We ended up using mine because his was not powerful enough. We used the self drilling screws that were 2 1/2 in. long. It worked like a champ on the deck. I am now going to buy him one because he loved it so much.
