Wow, a coorded drill with a brake, I've been searching for this forever!

I have a ton of drills, a bosch sds hammer drill, a 10amp dewalt, 7amp dewalt, a couple ridged 9amp spade drills, a milwaukee screw gun, a makita 4amp angle drill, 18v milwaukee hammer drill and ratcheting drill, all of which are 5 star drills, and then I have some old beaters I like to throw around.
The 10amp dewalt is most comparable to this Hitachi DEWALT DWD210G 10-Amp 1/2-Inch Pistol-Grip Drill. The Dewalt is heavier, and has an overload protect feature which shuts it off if it gets too hot.
This 9amp hitachi is the only coorded drill I have found that has an electric brake, or any brake for that matter, which is completely awesome and something I've been looking for, for awhile. For the life of me I can't think why dewalts 7amp pistol grip drill doesn't have any kind of break, people are obviously getting a drill that size as a general purpose drill that will include some fastening.
The electric brake on the hitachi, works like many 18v coorded drills clutch break, that stops the drill from spinning when you take your finger off. This makes it a viable coorded drill for fastening and screwing. And because this is a powerful 9amp drill, having a break on it to me is an impressive feature that sets this drill apart. And this drill, unlike the 10amp dewalt, is light enough to be held with one hand for short periods of time. The hitachi does come with a side handle, and you would need it if you were doing a lot of fastening. I would not hang drywall with this, it's much too heavy for that. But if you want to drill a pilot hole through a sheet of metal and a slab of oak and then run a screw into it, all with one tool, this would be your general-purpose-medium-duty drill. And because of this electric brake it makes the drill extremely versatile, and it's now my go-to drill of choice.
The 10amp dewalt would be more for if you were using a hole saw in studs for 2 hrs straight or mixing up some concrete and don't want to ruin the drill.. the overload protect feature will keep you from ruining it. I like both drills. The dewalt is more powerful for sure, bigger, heavier, faster rotation, more torque.
But to me the electric break is a wow factor. I really, REALLY like this drill.

Contractor Grade Drill

This is an extremely well built and durable drill, suitable for contractor use. The electric brake on this model is one of the best I have ever used. The overall fit and finish is excellent, and the balance is perfect. The drill comes with a hardshell carrying case that keeps everything together. The ambdextrous screw-on handle is very comfortable.

This is the best drill I've ever owned. Period. End of story. I'm 65 and have been using drills for many years. Many different types and brands. This Hitachi is excellent. A small con is that it is a bit heavy. But that's because of the QUALITY of the motor.
Most drills spin down when one releases the trigger. This drill has a built-in brake and it stops quickly which is a big plus. The Forward/Reverse lever is in the correct place and works excellently while some other drills have some placement problems.
The chuck on this drill is also heavy-duty and holds bits very well. I also like the case it comes with. Very helpful and easy to carry around. I quit using cordless drills a few years ago as they just don't seem to hold up. Battery life is short and torque varies depending on battery charge. This is a corded drill and they have put an 8' cord on it which is wonderful.
All in all I personally highly recommend this drill to anybody who is a serious craftsman, a DIYer at home, or a contractor. Great drill... great price and Amazon provided free and fast shipping.
