Rigid hammer drill

Great drill. Not very heavy and with the proper bit it powers through concrete. Two gears also makes it a plus for more control when drilling. Also comes with a lifetime warranty on parts, just be sure to send in the registration card to Rigid or they won't honor it for life.

awesome drill, lifetime service agreement available

Ridgid is now offering a limited lifetime service agreement on some tools for the original owner if you register your tool on their website. That is a really unbeatable deal, since I just had to have my Makita drill serviced (under warranty, thankfully) and it would have cost more than the drill cost to buy.

Best Half Inch Hammerdrill out there, Bar None!

Recently, I put up a 30' X 44' steel shop on my farm. It is one of those that you have to bolt 2' wide corrugated sections of various lengths and angles together. Once the sections are bolted together, you raise each section up and bolt it to the previous section.
Before any of this can be done, you have to pour a monolithic pad of rebar and concrete and let it cure for 28 days. There are two ways that can be used to attach the metal to the pad. One is a trough method where a trough is made on each side of the pad for the metal to rest in. Once the metal building is completed and is plumb, you grout the trough in to hold the metal. The other way is to purchase a base bracket kit and bolt the base down to the pad, either presetting Hilti Bolts when the concrete is poured or drilling 1/2" holes, 4 1/2" deep, and bolting the bracket plates to the foundation. It required 130 1/2" holes 4 1/2" in this particular case which, to me, are alot of large, deep holes to drill. This drill wizzed through the job. Didn't even overheat once. I burnt up a Dewalt and a Ryobi on a previous job. This drill even finished using the original bit.
I purchased this drill as a close-out and have never looked back. The first Ridgid electric tool I purchased but definately not the last!
