Great Power, too much noise

I had a cheap 3amp black and decker drill that has served me well over the years. Today I was trying to mix some drywall mud to texture the ceilings in a rental property of mine. The cordless was not an option, and my 3.0 amp almost did ok for a few minutes, but then smoked and died. I ran to the score and picked up this 7 amp model with the additional handle for extra control, and WOW what a difference. It mixed up the mud with ease and seemed to have power to spare. The one negative thing I did notice right away, it was very very loud. Overall I like B&D stuff. Most things I have purchased have lasted a long time and run great. I will never be a cool handy man with all DeWalt stuff, but I will have a few extra benjamins in my wallet.

Good drill, though I thought I was getting an impact driver

So obviously I'm wrong, but I always thought this was the lingo:
- Drill: attach a drill bit, make holes in stuff.
- Driver: attach a screwdriver bit, set torque, drive screws.
- Impact wrench: set torque, drive screws with many tiny impacts.
- Hammerdrill: does a twisty and forward/backward motion.
Based on that, I thought I was ordering something that would drive screws and bits to a specified torque range. Why else would this be called a drill/driver rather than just a drill? Why else would the handle have a screwdriver bit image beveled into it?
Nope, this is a drill. The handle has a small place to store drill and screwdriver bits, don't know why it would have the latter since you don't screw things in with a drill.
My fault I guess. Just fyi this is a drill.

B&D 1/2 in. 7.0 amp Drill/Driver

I like the B&D drill. It's a bit heavy for me as I'm 72 yro. It's a good drill and I do like the B&D products. My last B&D drill lasted 30 yrs, I'd say I got my money's worth. I might try using it without the handle, that might lighten it up a bit. I love tools and love to build things. I still have my B&D skill saw, and that to is 30 yro and working fine.
