Great drill but no it is NOT brushless.

As mentioned above this drill is not brushless. No where on the tool, packaging and the included literature does it says that it is brushless. A check with the specs online also shows it to be brushed. That said it is a good drill and is very adequate for homeowner use. Coming from years of using hammer drills this is a huge upgrade for me. It punches holes into concrete a lot faster than my corded hammer drills and the light weight means working on ceilings are a lot easier.
I'll try to condense my review as quickly as possible.
++PROS++
- Light
- Powerful
- Good run-time even on the compact series batteries
- More than enough for a home owner who will be putting in holes in the 1/4in size
- Very good trigger
- Hammer action only activates when you apply pressure
- On-board LED under the chuck
--CONS--
- It is NOT brushless and thus should have been priced lower (mine was purchased at USD199)
- Vents right below the chuck. When drilling overhead, dust will enter motor housing. Cover it with one hand when drilling ceilings
- No belt clip
- Does not stand upright due to weight distribution (even with HC battery)
- No depth stop and side handle
- shipped with oil leaking everywhere
- Price should have been lower for a brushed model
Though my list of cons may seem as long as the pros I am nitpicking here. Except for the vents I don't think any of them are major issues. For a homeowner like me (just completed my mortgage, YAY!!) I'm sure I'll be putting it to good use. We have a build-in bomb shelter in our apartment (as does most Singaporeans) and though it took a bit longer to drill holes is there, it did it with no major problems. Granted it is just for non-permanent anchors but it is reinforced concrete. I won't run large bits or try drilling holes deeper than 12 inches with it but for anything less it will do the job. At the current price of USD179 it is a good deal.
